What else could we use?
For those of us who were looking at the book Handa’s Surprise we became interested in comparing the weight of the fruit.
We needed some big scales, so luckily Mr Lyon was able to help and made some for us.
Edward was able to see how the scales work “we need to make both sides equal”.
Ahsan noticed that “The pineapple is just a little bit big but there is more of the other one.”
We ended up finding that the scales were level with a pineapple hanging on one side and eleven mandarines hanging on the other side.
The “Roald Dahl” group enjoyed commenting on our blog this morning. They really enjoy seeing the learning that is happening in our unit and reading comments from others.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read and comment on the blog – it really excites the kids!
What do you like most about the blog?
Last year, as grade 1’s, we began reading “The Wizard of Oz”. As a little girl, this was my FAVOURITE movie! I especially love when Dorothy gets to Oz and the movie fills with colour. There is an element of magic that comes with these older movies and books. We got through more than half the book before the holidays but we didn’t get to finish it. I wonder if anyone would like to finish it?
“The Wizard if Oz” is on tv tonight – 7.30 on channel 9. I hope you enjoy it ☺
